Cocoon lets you grow meat

September 25, 2009 By: 9bl Category: News, Others

Electrolux recently sponsored a design contest, and this Cocoon was the winner. You might be wondering what it is, it is a cooker that can “grow” meat and fish by heating animal cells. Yes, that does sound like something from science fiction, and it probably will stay that way at this point.

You know you’ve more or less have one of those weird phones when it comes with an extremely long name – how about the Beatle Quadband Touch Screen Dual SIM Wi-Fi Media phone for starters? This has nothing to do with the Fab Four, although it seems to cram in as many features as possible including Wi-Fi connectivity, Google Maps to help you get around, a variety of instant messaging programs, Bluetooth support, dual SIM card slots to make sure you can be contacted around the clock and global quadband GSM connectivity, perfect for those who travel from one time zone to another all too frequently. You also get a 2.6″ touchscreen display, a microSD memory card slot and an accelerometer among others to get you started.

Bayer Contour USB Meter tracks glucose levels for diabetics

September 23, 2009 By: 9bl Category: News, Others

Those with Diabetes have to keep track of their health facts constantly.  Which means any gadget that can simplify their lives can be a life saver.  Well Bayer is making an attempt to help people out with keeping track of all of those random facts.  Plus this will help out anyone who is taking care of someone with diabetes.  With this they’ll be able to glance at the information punched in and be able to see long and short term facts.  That information can then in turn be used to help out doctors give a much more accurate diagnosis in case treatment needs to be changed. This Bayer Contour USB Meter has Glucofacts Deluxe software that allows for easy retrieval of data and then of course long term tracking and analysis of blood glucose levels.  Instead of knowing just a few facts over recent days or weeks, you’ll have access to up to 2,000 test results.  That will allow for you to see trends and patterns in your blood and glucose levels.  The product doesn’t appear to be out just yet, but you can expect to see it hitting the market sometime soon.

September 23, 2009 By: 9bl Category: News, Others

So what is the world’s first that the Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter will be known for? According to my source, it is the first iPhone controlled hardware. I have only one response to that: Really?

The eco-friendly 5.11 Tactical Flashlight

September 21, 2009 By: 9bl Category: News, Others

This is the flashlight to have around if you’re heavily paranoid about running out of juice and being left in the dark.  It does things a bit different than your average flashlight, it doesn’t even contain batteries.  It’ll make sure that you always have a bright light to see your way and does it in an eco-friendly manner.  Sadly there is one serious downfall with this flashlight, it comes at a high price.  Then again, all devices featuring new and cutting edge technology do seem to be that way. This flashlight uses an energy management system that’s called Flashpoint Power Technology.  It uses environmentally friendly ultracapacitors.  Those ultracapacitors work together with a revolutionary form of computer circuitry to manage how the energy is put into the flashlight.  Those ultracpaictors also manage to unload energy without a chemical reaction like batteries would.  The bulbs never need replaced and the flashlight only takes 90 seconds to recharge.  For such a simple gadget it uses much more sophisticated technology than one is used to seeing in a flashlight.  Which is probably why this flashlight is priced at $169 .
