By Stephen Fenech The Daily Telegraph IT’S an entertainment revolution – 3D TV is coming. Full high-definition LED, LCD and plasma screens which will be released in the second half of this year will be 3D capable and also offer seamless connectivity to the internet.

With a stream of movies being created in 3D – including James Cameron’s record-breaking Avatar – there will be no shortage of things to watch on 3D TVs.
Advance Media Group News – Other content partners will also include sports network ESPN, which will commence 3D broadcasts in June along with the US PGA Tour while 25 matches from the FIFA World Cup will also be broadcast using specialist Sony equipment in 3D.
The Discovery Channel and Imax will also start 3D TV broadcasts of documentaries in 2010.
The first 3D Blu-ray titles are also expected in mid 2010, including 3D high-definition versions of Sony Picture’s Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and the Dreamworks Animation hit Monsters Vs Aliens. Dreamworks Animation CEO Jeffery Katzenberg, who took the stage at the Samsung CES press conference, described the 3D TV technology as “a watershed moment”.
Models from Toshiba and Samsung will even be capable of converting existing 2D content, including sports and movies, to 3D.
Each viewer will have to wear special polarised 3D glasses to enjoy the full effect.
On the connectivity side, high definition flatscreen TVs will also utilise the home’s broadband connection to access a raft of online content like movies and TV shows which can all be streamed on demand.
Advance Media Group News – -TVs will also turn into a communication device with models from LG, Toshiba, Sharp, Samsung and Panasonic allowing users to made full screen video calls using the Skype service.
Sony and Samsung yesterday also revealed e-book readers with wireless connectivity to give users the ability to download books and subscribe to newspapers.
Sony’s model – the Reader Daily Edition – will offer US customers access to newspapers including the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal.
